EURES is a network of European national employment services, members and partners whose main task is to provide support to workers and employers who want to benefit from the mobility of the European workforce.
The EURES network operates in 28 European Union (EU) Member States and Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. In Latvia, a member of the EURES network is the State Employment Agency (NVA). The NVA works with EURES advisors to provide support to employers for recruitment from other EU countries, as well as to provide job seekers with advice on working and living conditions in Europe and to return useful information on the necessary procedures to Latvia.
EURES advice for job seekers:
• on employment opportunities and job vacancies in Latvia and other European countries;
• on SEA services and the CV and Vacancy Portal;
• useful information about returning to Latvia;
• the opportunities provided by the European Job Mobility Portal;
• working conditions and living conditions in Latvia and other European countries;
• on European social security coordination and trans-national taxation issues;
• the rights and obligations of staying in another European country;
EURES support to employers:
• support for recruitment in EU Member States and Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway;
• advice and information on the transfer of staff to another EU Member State or Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway;
• information on labour supply and demand in the European labour market;
• Information and opportunities of the European Job Mobility Portal;
• EURES CV database.
Latvian employers interested in publishing their vacancies in other Member States are invited to contact EURES consultants.
How to become a EURES member or partner?
In order to extend access to EURES services, it is also possible for non-national employment services to be involved in the EURES network and to become a EURES member or partner. The organisation must comply with the criteria for the admission of EURES members and partners set out by the European Parliament and Council Regulation (EU) 2016/589 (Annex 1) and by the Member State.
In order to become a EURES member, the organisation must provide the following services:
• investing in the portfolio of vacancies by sending data to the EURES portal.
• contribution to the compilation of job applications and CVs by sending data to the EURES portal.
• direct support for job seekers and employers (information, recruitment, post-recruitment support).
The EURES partner must, on the other hand, provide at least one of the three services mentioned above.
